After the bill failed, he said, “We have never opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill; we have opposed those who try to usurp women’s rights.”In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Stalin welcomed the results and declared that “Tamil Nadu has defeated Delhi”.The Center also withdrew two other proposed bills, one on delimitation and another on related measures, after the ground floor test failed, marking a wider setback for the government’s legislative process.Despite strong support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the bill fell short of the required two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha and the NDA was unable to garner sufficient support.The special session of Parliament witnessed heated debates and heated exchanges between the ruling NDA and the India Bloc, marking a political showdown over the bill.
