He said communication between cricket boards is routine and part of maintaining strong international relations.“We are in regular communication with the national cricket boards. As part of regular communication, we have recently contacted the Board of Control for Cricket in India through letters, emails to communicate with them,” BCB director (cricket operations) Nazmul Abedin Fahim told ANI over phone. “In the letter, we mentioned that the Indian national cricket team is scheduled to travel to Bangladesh to play a series in September, after which our women’s team will also travel to India. How the BCB and BCCI rift started
The outreach comes after a tense period between the two cricketing nations. Kolkata Knight Riders sign Bangladesh pacer ahead of IPL 2026 Mustafizur Rahman. However, the BCCI ordered KKR to release him due to political opposition from local groups, which led to friction between the boards. The situation further escalated when Bangladesh decided to boycott the T20 World Cup in India, leading to tensions in cricket relations. However, diplomatic relations between the two countries have recently shown signs of improvement. Following the February 12 elections, the new government led by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has taken steps to strengthen bilateral ties with India.Dr. Bangladesh Foreign Minister said that this is a major diplomatic initiative. Khalil Rehman is scheduled to visit India from April 7 to 8. With political relations improving, cricket cooperation between the two countries also appears to be back on track, marking a positive phase for future engagements.
India trip to Bangladesh
The Indian national cricket team will travel to Bangladesh in September 2026 for a six-match white-ball series that includes three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The tour, originally scheduled for August 2025, was postponed due to scheduling and safety concerns. Based on the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s recommendations to the BCCI, the final schedule is expected to be confirmed by both committees.
