New Delhi: Two western disturbances are likely to affect northwest India back-to-back this week, with peak activity on April 7-8, leading to below-normal to near-normal daytime temperatures and wet weather in the region, the India Meteorological Department said.In-mold development department) said on Sunday. Western Disturbance (WD) is an extratropical cyclone originating from the Mediterranean region that brings sudden rain and snow to the northern parts of the Indian subcontinent. The IMD further said that daytime temperatures are likely to remain below normal or close to normal in most parts of the country during the next seven days due to various weather phenomena in different regions, including WD in the north-west, cyclonic circulation at lower tropospheric levels over the central and western Bay of Bengal along the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh, upper-level cyclonic circulation at Rayalaseema and a trough extending from this upper-level cyclonic circulation to the Gulf of Mannar. These factors will lead to wet weather with thunderstorms and lightning in central, eastern and peninsular India till April 9. States likely to face such weather include Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal south of the Himalayas, and Sikkim, Bihar and Jharkhand. The India Meteorological Department said the maximum (daytime) temperature in northwest India will rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius till April 6, but will “gradually decrease by 2-4 degrees Celsius” on April 7-8 and “gradually increase by 2-4 degrees Celsius” on April 9-11.
