New Delhi: Sourav Ganguly spoke about his future in cricket, saying he remains close to the game and is open to exploring coaching opportunities. The former India captain, who recently led Pretoria Capitals to a runners-up finish in the SA20 league, said he is keen to continue in different roles.
Ganguly made it clear that coaching is something he is seriously considering. “The most important thing for me is cricket. When I used to play cricket, I used to bowl, bowl and captain the national team. But everything I do now is at a different stage. I just want to be involved in cricket and I also coached Pretoria Capitals in the South African league and we reached the final and I am interested in that (coaching) as well,” he said at an event in Noida, as quoted by PTI.“I have also served as BCCI and CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) president and again as CAB president. I have achieved everything in life and whatever opportunities I will get, I will explore them,” he added.As far as the game itself is concerned, Ganguly believes that Test cricket is the most difficult and important format, while calling T20 the most challenging event despite attracting huge crowds.Ganguly also expressed his views intense pulsed lightof the impact player rule, saying it’s unlikely to go away despite criticism. “I think the Impact Player Rules are here to stay…it’s here to stay and some people will like it and some people won’t,” he said.Talking about the growth of IPL, especially on a massive scale rajasthan royals After the deal was struck, he called the figures “exciting” and added, “The Indian Cricket League is only going to get to the next level…These are exciting numbers, but there is so much more in store for Indian cricket.”He also highlighted young talent to keep an eye on, including Auqib Nabi, as the league continues to showcase emerging stars.
