'I cannot in good conscience...': Tulsi Gabbard describes her husband in resignation letter
Tulsi Gabbard says her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.

Rumors about Tulsi Gabbard’s imminent ouster have dominated Washington for days, and the director of national intelligence has been missing for weeks as the United States attacks Iran. Gabbard’s deputy, Joe Kent, resigned in March, making Gabbard’s imminent exit only a matter of time. The director of national intelligence submitted her resignation on Friday without mentioning her “disagreements” over the war with Iran. Gabbard said she had to step down from her role after her husband was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” she wrote. “My husband Abraham was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation letter reads: “Abraham has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage—steadfast throughout my deployments to East Africa on joint special operations missions, multiple political campaigns, and now in this role. His strength and love have sustained me through every challenge. I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this battle alone while I continue in this demanding, time-consuming position.”“While we have made significant progress in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence – increasing unprecedented transparency and restoring integrity to the Intelligence Community, I recognize there is still important work to be done. I am fully committed to ensuring a smooth and thorough transition in the coming weeks so that your leadership or momentum is not disrupted and that of the travel team,” she wrote.

Who is Abraham Williams?

Donald Trump’s statement on Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation

“Unfortunately, after doing a wonderful job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the government on June 30. Her wonderful husband, Abraham, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and she rightfully wants to be with him and nurse him back to health as they are currently fighting an uphill battle together,” the president posted on Truth Social.“I have no doubt he will be better than ever soon. Tulsi did an incredible job and we will miss her. Her well-respected Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lucas will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence under President Donald J. Trump,” he wrote.
