New Delhi: Former Delhi chief minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal was acquitted by the Rouse Avenue court on Friday. A visibly emotional Kejriwal, speaking to reporters outside the court, praised the verdict as “the truth will always prevail”.Kejriwal’s long-time deputy Manish Sisodia was also dismissed from his post by the court.Special Judge Jitendra Singh delivered the verdict in the case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Responding to the protracted case against him, Kejriwal said, “Mud was thrown at us.”He said, “The BJP has been accusing us in the Delhi GST policy case for the past few years but today the court dismissed all the allegations against us. We always say truth will prevail…PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah conspired against AAP and arrested five top leaders of the party. A sitting chief minister was arrested. We have been accused and called corrupt in every channel. Kejriwal is not corrupt. I won only by honesty. The court today said Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and AAP were honest. “During the investigation, both AAP leaders were serving time in Tihar jail. Kejriwal also submitted his resignation to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor over corruption charges related to the Delhi consumer policy case. His government, later succeeded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Rekha Gupta, faced serious charges and big figures in the AAP government were sent to jail.
