in search Nancy GuthrieToday Show host’s mother Savannah Guthrieat least five people were detained and eventually released. It is worth noting that these people were detained in connection with the case, not arrested.
One person was detained and his gray Range Rover confiscated during a late-night operation on Friday near Nancy’s home, while three people were also detained. Investigators located the SUV in a Culver parking lot in Catalina Foothills, just two miles from Nancy’s home, KGUN9 reported.
The driver was taken in for questioning and later released, the New York Post reported. Two men and one of their mothers were also detained by a SWAT team that responded to the tip. They were released after being interviewed.
Previously, a man named Carlos Palazuelos was detained by police for questioning in connection with the case. Carlos was released shortly after being detained.
Carlos was reportedly detained during a traffic stop. The police even executed one search warrant At his house.
All were detained after authorities released surveillance video and photos. The black-and-white photos and footage show a man wearing gloves, a mask, khakis, sneakers and a backpack who appears to be fiddling with a camera at Guthrie’s front door on the morning of Guthrie’s disappearance. One of the videos shows the man walking to the door with his head lowered. The person’s eyes are visible through the holes in the mask.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News that no arrests have been made.
Latest developments of the case
The FBI collected a black glove that investigators believe may be related to Nancy’s disappearance. On Sunday afternoon, the New York Post discovered three more discarded gloves in the Catalina Foothills, about two miles from Nancy’s Tucson home. However, it is unclear whether the three abandoned gloves are related to the crime.
Investigators said they found DNA on a glove that appeared to match the gloves worn by the suspect in doorbell camera footage taken the night Nancy disappeared, the BBC reported. Investigators found the glove in a field near the road about two miles from Nancy’s home, the FBI said. The agency said it had received preliminary DNA test results for the glove and was still awaiting “quality control and official confirmation” before entering the “unknown male profile” into its database.
