'Horribly good president, why is he so hard to talk?': 'Saturday Night Live' UK premiere mocks Starmer's awkward call with Trump over Iran war

British version saturday night live The first episode opens with a classic-style political cold open, imagining Prime Minister Keir Starmer awkwardly trying to tell the US President Donald Trump Britain will not enter a war with Iran.Starmer, played by a carefully disguised George Fox, sat nervously at his desk with a framed photo of Trump behind him when the dial tone rang. “Oh my God! What if Donald yells at me? What do I say?” he says to the counselor played by Hammoud Animashaun. “Be yourself, Prime Minister! You are the one that everyone likes.”Trump answered the phone with a stilted “Hello,” and Starmer immediately hung up the phone and exclaimed: “Oh, it’s so terrible, this wonderful president is so terrible. Why is it so hard for him to talk?”Starmer talks to his advisers as if Trump were his toxic predecessor. “I just want to make him happy. You don’t understand him like I do. I can change him!” as quoted by Variety. The meeting is then interrupted by Starmer’s new Gen Z adviser, played by Jake Shepp, who calls Starmer “Starmzy”, a play on British rapper Stormzy. The Gen Z consultant said he was suited for the job because “I’m an expert in messy drama, I’ve been through three couples, and I’m currently gay.”The Gen Z adviser told Starmer he shouldn’t have broken up with Trump on the phone but should have left him a voicemail. Starmer responded: “I’ll try anything, I’ll do anything. Except take a stand.”“Hi, Donald. I’m afraid I can’t go to war with you, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends,” Starmer said with a worried look on his face. “The United States and the United Kingdom have a long and proud tradition of working together, and nothing can take that away. Remember the good old days. Remember D-Day? Remember Field Aid? Remember Iraq? That first week, and the rest. Remember Helen Baxterdale in Friends? Remember Hugh Laurie in Friends? Remember that episode of Friends where they all came to London?”He continued: “But most importantly, remember that time Ross and Rachel took a break? I thought maybe that was what we needed. Not forever, just until you get all this war out of your system. We want something different. I know how much you want to start World War III, and that’s fine. You absolutely do, but we can’t be a part of it. However, you can use the naval base at any time. “Starmer’s advisers later congratulated him, saying: “Well done, sir. You did the bare minimum and that’s what was expected of you.”In a fourth-wall-breaking moment, Starmer replied: “It just goes to show that while we may not agree with everything America does, we can still be civil and embrace their wonderful, problem-free culture.”Fouracres, Animashaun and Shep then came together to say the iconic words: “Live from London, Saturday night!”
