Police have arrested a Brampton man on first-degree murder charges after a 26-year-old Indian woman was shot and killed in a targeted attack in Toronto.Toronto police said they responded to a call of shots fired near Humberwood Boulevard and Rexdale Boulevard around 7:23 a.m. on Friday and found Navneet Kaur suffering from a gunshot wound. She received emergency medical attention but was pronounced dead at the scene.Investigators said Kaul and the suspect interacted briefly before shots were fired. Police say the suspect fled before officers arrived, but was located and arrested by Ontario Provincial Police after further investigation.The defendant, a 37-year-old man from Brampton, was charged with first-degree murder and failure to comply with an undertaking.

He is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice on Saturday.Toronto police believe the shooting was targeted and say there are no suspects at large. The homicide squad is leading the investigation.A witness told CBC News they saw a man stalking a woman in her 20s. Witnesses said the man spoke briefly to her before she turned around, then fired one shot and fled the scene.There did not appear to be any altercation before the shooting and emergency services were called immediately after the woman fell to the ground. Witnesses said they also briefly tried to track the suspect.
