Less than a week ago, Mamata insisted she would not resign despite the BJP’s landslide victory in the state.“I will not resign. Let them sack me,” Banerjee said, urging party workers to celebrate “Black Day” during the first session of the new Parliament. In the 2026 assembly elections, he defeated the TMC in both Nandigram and Babanipur, while the BJP won 207 seats, ending the party’s 15-year rule in the state.
