Has Cloud’s Fable 5 been taken off the shelves? Anthropic responds when users report ‘points required’ error
Users of Anthropic AI chatbot Claude reported issues with the flagship AI model Fable. Users complained of receiving a “Credit Required” error. They say that Fable 5 is missing from Cloud Code and selecting it will prompt a “Points required” message.
Cloud acknowledges this problem with Fable, which according to its website is a “Fables flagship AI model designed for long-term operation, autonomous knowledge work, and complex coding.”
“We are aware of an issue that prevents users from selecting Cloud AI, Cloud Code, and other interfaces for Fable 5 and are working to resolve the issue,” a message read. Company status page read.
At 2:48 PM ET, the status page included another update stating that a fix had been applied and service was expected to be restored soon.
“We have fixed an incorrect requirement for credits to be used in Fable 5 and are monitoring to ensure the issue does not occur again,” the update reads. “You may need to restart Claude.ai or Claude Code to restore access as expected.”
Hundreds of users have also reported the following issues Claude Fable 5 Drop Detectora platform that tracks such outages based on user reports. More than 400 customers reported the problem at the height of the outage on Friday afternoon.
Down Detector shows the outage began at 2:06 PM ET and peaked around 2:21 PM ET before returning to normal at 2:51 PM ET. 38% reported problems with Claude Code, 33% reported problems with Claude Chat, and 19% reported problems with the Claude application.
