Gulf crisis: British Airways, SWISS increase India flights

NEW DELHI: With the big Gulf carriers flying only a fraction of their flight schedules, foreign airlines are expanding their India flights to meet growing demand for options from carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways. SWISS will operate a second daily flight between Delhi and Zurich from April 1 to May 31. British Airways will operate its third daily flight from Delhi from April 7, followed by its third daily flight from Mumbai from May 15. During the Iran war, Air India had been increasing flights to the West where possible.Lufthansa Group airline SWISS is increasing flight services between Switzerland and India, it said in a statement on Thursday. British Airways also announced additional flights from Delhi and Mumbai “to meet strong travel demand”. Neil Chernoff, BA’s chief planning and strategy officer, said: “The airline is reallocating capacity in line with the evolving situation in West Asia.”
