A social media post by late NHL reporter Jessi Pierce expressing gratitude for her husband, Mike Pierce, has resurfaced online after his death in a tragic house fire in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Pierce, 37, and her three children, Hudson, Kayden and Avery, died early on March 21 after a fire engulfed their home.

Following this, an old Thanksgiving post that Pierce shared on X went viral. “Today I am grateful that a husband drove to Wisconsin where the liquor stores are still open because we forgot about it earlier in the week,” she wrote.
The resurfaced tweet was seen as a poignant reminder of Pierce’s family life outside of his professional achievements as an NHL reporter.
Michael Russo, who covers the Wild for The Athletic, paid tribute to Pierce on The X and expressed condolences to her husband, Mike. “Most importantly, she absolutely loved Hudson, Kayden and Avery and was the greatest mother who did everything she could to bring joy to her most adorable children,” he wrote.
He further recalled seeing her spending time with her children, writing, “Even while wearing her beloved Iowa jerseys for practice on Friday, she was excited to take them to the WBL’s Cup and Cone season opener. Seeing these precious photos yesterday, she provided them with another day of great fun and love.”
Pierce posted a photo of herself and her children visiting the Cup and Cone ice cream shop in White Bear Lake on Friday.
Of Mike, Russo wrote: “My heart breaks for Mike’s wife and children and for Jesse’s family, friends and colleagues at this unimaginable loss.”

Emergency crews responded to the fire before dawn and found the home fully engulfed in flames, authorities said. Despite their efforts, Pierce and her children could not be rescued.
The National Hockey League confirmed her death, saying she was a vital member of the hockey journalism community who covered the Minnesota Wild for years.
Pierce has covered the Minnesota Wild for NHL.com for the past ten seasons. She has worked for the team and is a writer for The Athletic. The Bardown Beauties podcast invited her to serve as co-host.
