Controversial Maine Senate Candidates Graham Plattner He has invited his wife to speak on his behalf after his profile was revealed on a questionable hookup app, Kik, while the Democratic candidate himself has remained silent.
Amy Gertnerwho got married Plattner In 2023, she said she felt “deeply hurt” by the campaign’s former political director, to whom she warned about the sexually explicit text messages, who later verified the messages with the media.
According to various sources, the lecherous oyster farmer reportedly engaged in sexting relationships with as many as a dozen women, according to the New York Post .

“It makes me very angry, very disappointed, and I find it very shameful that there is a group of media and people who are willing to spread gossip instead of talking about the real issues that Graham is dealing with, like health care, education and child care,” Gertner said in a video addressing the controversy.
In the unedited video Gertner edited after the scandal broke, she acknowledged that she and Graham had the help of three counselors in their marriage and said her oyster farmer “was probably a genius.”

Notably, Graham has not made any public comments about the scandal, other than sharing information about his spouse.
“I admired him so much. So when there were news reports about our marriage, I was extra shy,” Gertner said. “Can I say it online? I wish I could.”
On Saturday, the Wall Street Journal published a shocking report about Plattner’s extramarital text messages. The article revealed that he had an active Kik account, a platform known for private messaging related to casual encounters.
His profile picture shows him without a shirt and a towel draped around his waist.
Gertner opens up about challenges in marriage
Gertner recognized the challenges she faced during her three-year marriage to Plattner, especially given their struggles with infertility.
“It’s hard to be married; it’s hard to be newlywed; it’s hard to be newlywed and infertile,” Gertner said. “Being newlyweds and going through infertility and a Senate campaign is hard. I don’t even know if I have the words to describe what we’re going through.”
She further expressed her feelings of betrayal against a former campaign aide who exposed Platner’s hidden truth to the public.
“I revealed deeply personal details about my marriage to someone I considered a friend,” she lamented. “In the months since, I’ve had to watch her spread malicious gossip to anyone who would take her call.”
“Early in our marriage, before we considered any campaigning, I entrusted this person with the most private chapter of our lives, and I am deeply hurt by her betrayal and invasion of our privacy,” she continued.
“I know who Graham is. I know the man I married and what a husband he was to me on the best and worst days of my life. That has not changed and will not change.”
