Update: One person died following an officer-involved shooting Saturday in Georgetown, Texas, police said.
The Georgetown Police Department said in a Facebook post that the incident happened in the 100 block of W. 7th Street on the Georgetown Square.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the area around 12:49 p.m. after receiving reports of a man jumping on vehicles and behaving erratically.
“Officers arrived at approximately 12:55 p.m. and located the subject,” police said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said a violent struggle broke out between the man and officers. During the struggle, the man allegedly attempted to take a holstered handgun from one of the officers. Another officer then fired their weapon, striking the man.
Officers and emergency medical personnel provided assistance before the man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Authorities said there is “no active shooter” and “no ongoing threat to the public related to this incident.”
The officers involved are being interviewed, while investigators continue to gather evidence and establish the full sequence of events.
Police stressed that the details released so far are preliminary and should not be considered a final account of the incident.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased or the names of the officers involved. Police said additional information will be released when appropriate and after required notifications have been completed.

Several local residents have taken to social media to report what they say happened. Unconfirmed accounts suggest the incident involved a single person who allegedly posed a threat and was shot by law enforcement. Some residents said the person died at the scene.
Witnesses also reported that the shooting happened near Gold Burger and Divas on The Square.
One witness said on Facebook that she was at Gold Diner when the incident occurred.
“Like so many in our little town, we are visibly shaken,” she wrote.
The witness described Georgetown as a “family-friendly, active, close-knit community” and said the incident was unsettling for residents.
“Our thoughts are with everyone who witnessed or was affected by what happened. Please check on your friends, family, and neighbors today. And a HUGE thank you to the Georgetown Police Department for responding, protecting our community, and doing what you do to keep us safe. We are incredibly grateful for you.”
Another local resident wrote on social media, “Supposedly a person opened fire and was immediately taken out by law enforcement.”
These accounts have not been independently verified, and authorities have not confirmed details about the suspect, whether shots were fired by the individual, or whether anyone was killed.
