New Delhi: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar Concerns expressed over Kolkata Knight Riders team balance in IPL 2026, especially due to Cameron Greenhas a limited role. As a key all-rounder, Green did not bowl in the first two games, affecting the team’s overall composition and flexibility.Gavaskar said KKR may need to rethink their strategy.
“If Cameron Green doesn’t bowl, KKR will need to think about their combination. If he doesn’t bowl, then they may have to look at bringing in another specialist batsman,” he told Star Sports.Gavaskar, while acknowledging Green’s batting prowess, also pointed out his inconsistencies. “We know he has scored a hundred in the IPL and he is batting well, but his recent form has not been good,” he said. He also highlighted weaknesses in the middle order, adding, “Green at fourth is okay, but the bigger concern seems to be the fifth and sixth spots.”KKR have been struggling so far, losing consecutive matches, which only adds to concerns about the team’s balance and performance.Gavaskar, on the other hand, praised Nitish Kumar Reddy’s all-round performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He noted a clear improvement in Reddy’s bowling, noting, “He’s definitely bowling faster now and has definitely gained some pace… You can also see there’s a better rhythm and fluidity to his action.”Reddy’s performance with bat and ball played a key role in the team’s victory. Gavaskar called the improvement “very encouraging news for India” and highlighted his potential as a future asset for the national team.
