FDA recalls 1.6 million Midwest Poultry Service eggs due to salmonella risk: Check affected brands and states
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Midwest Poultry Services has recalled nearly 1.6 million eggs because they may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. The FDA announced the recall on Wednesday and said the affected eggs were produced on the company’s farm in Texas.
The recall includes white-shell and free-range shell eggs from Texas farms. The eggs were sold to six stores US states Between June 6 and July 3. Their sell by or best before dates are July 20 to August 17.

The recalled eggs were sold in the following states:

- Louisiana: Kroger and Brookshire Grocery Stores
- Mississippi: Brookshire Grocery Store
- New Mexico: Brookshire Grocery Store
- Oklahoma: Brookshire Grocery Store
- Texas: Kroger and Brookshire Grocery Stores

The FDA also said the eggs were sold through other smaller retail outlets in addition to large supermarket chains. The health agency clarified that other products manufactured by Midwest Poultry Services are not included in this recall. So far, no illnesses have been reported related to the recalled eggs, according to Midwest Poultry Services and the FDA.
Why eggs were recalled
The company said it discovered the problem during a routine safety inspection of its Texas farm. Midwest Poultry Services said it discovered the issue through “proactive environmental monitoring practices and root cause analysis” of its two Texas farms, CBS News reported.
