Florida A&M University released an update Thursday following concerns about a shooting on its campus in Tallahassee. The university, FAMU, initially reported police activity near FAMU Village and Prague Stadium. However, it did not mention the shooting. Shelter-in-place orders have been issued.
“There is police activity near FAMU Villages and Prague Stadium. Please avoid the area as law enforcement officers are in the area. Shelters are in place,” FAMU wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.
However, after a few minutes. The university said normal operations can continue after a brief investigation.

The latest notice reads: “Police Activity Update at Bragg Stadium, FAMU Villages, Gaither Gymnasium Complex, Gaither Offices and Classrooms, Rattler Pointe A: All cleared. Please resume normal operations.”

On March 29, a shooting occurred at a crowded house party near Florida A&M University, injuring four people. According to the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD), at approximately 3:36 a.m. local time, officers in the Bond neighborhood heard multiple gunshots and responded to a home in the 500 block of Osceola Street.
“While in the crowd, officers located two individuals, an adult male and a female, suffering from gunshot wounds,” TPD wrote in an emailed case update to the Tallahassee Democrat. “Officers provided immediate medical attention. Both victims had non-life-threatening injuries.”
Authorities later confirmed that four adults had suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police emphasized that the shooting did not occur on the university campus, although it occurred near campus on Althea Gibson Way, not far from the FAMU softball facility.
“There is police activity near Osceola Street and Althea Gibson Road,” the alert said. “Please be aware that this is an off-campus incident. Avoid the area or shelter in place nearby.”
TPD Watch Commander Damon Miller said investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting. He confirmed that all the victims were adults and no arrests had been made as of the time of the report.
The incident was one of two shootings in Tallahassee that morning. Earlier, the Florida State University Police Department responded to another shooting that left one person injured.
