The viral video claiming to show Mojtaba Khamenei entering a military operations room has been revealed to be artificially generated and not verified by Grok, with no reliable source confirming its authenticity.

Iranian media has not yet reported on the alleged video

GBX_Press originally shared this video on X. The page described the video as “breaking news” and said: “Iran has released a new video showing Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on his way to the military operations room for the first time.”

However, Gronk confirmed that Iranian state media such as the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Company (IRIB) or the Tasnim News Agency have not confirmed the video.

Major international news organizations, including Reuters, the BBC and CNN, also did not report any such appearance or video release by the Iranian government.

Open-source intelligence agencies such as Grok pointed out that Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly never appeared in public since taking over from his father Ali Khamenei in early 2026 and has only issued written statements.

Recognizes footage flagged and recycled by AI

According to Grok’s analysis, the clip has several signs that it is artificially generated or manipulated.

Frame-by-frame review shows that parts of the footage resemble old recordings Ali Khamenei before his death, Grok reported. Digital overlays are then added to the video to create the impression of a new scene.

According to Grok, the video also suffers from visual inconsistencies such as blurry faces, unnatural lighting, and glitchy-like transitions. These tags have been flagged as are common for AI-generated or heavily edited content.

Fact-checking groups including DW and MEMRI have previously used artificial intelligence technology to record similar propaganda-style clips to mislead viewers.
