An illegal immigrant is accused of killing four young men after driving under the influence (DUI) on an Oklahoma highway.Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Michael Rosario-Cruz. He was released from the hospital and booked into the Canadian County Jail on four counts of second-degree murder, driving under the influence causing serious injury, driving on the wrong side of the road, carrying a firearm while intoxicated and transporting an open container.The crash happened early Friday on Interstate 40 in Canadian County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Rosario-Cruz was allegedly traveling westbound in the eastbound lane when he collided head-on with another vehicle. The impact caused the car to burst into flames, killing all four passengers.The victims were identified as 20-year-old Kiercey Hickson, 19-year-old Quincy Jones, and 18-year-olds Haliegh Salazar and Brad Palmer.Rosario-Cruz is the subject of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer request, which means ICE requires notification before releasing anyone in order to initiate deportation proceedings. His nationality and time of entry into the United States have not been confirmed.“Driving under the influence is a reckless, life-changing decision,” the Highway Patrol said in announcing the charges on social media.It added: “The loss of these young lives will have a lasting impact on countless family members, friends and communities.”The victims were recently remembered at a vigil at El Reno High School, three of whom graduated from the high school. Retired teacher Nancy Salsman said she taught three of the victims in second grade.“You just make connections that never go away,” she told News9.She added: “They will always be your children. When something like this happens, we come together.”
