If the success rate is that high, you don’t need to talk about it as much.”For Suryakumar, leadership also means investing time in players during difficult phases – a philosophy inspired by his predecessor Rohit Sharma. He mentioned teammates like Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma who overcame adversity and played a crucial role in the game.“When someone is not behaving well, you try to spend time with him, take him out to dinner, talk to him,” he said. “These guys are going to do something special for you at the right time.”The captain also stressed the importance of an open locker room. “Freedom of expression in the dressing room is very important. If you don’t listen to everyone, you can’t win trophies with everyone.”Ultimately, Suryakumar believes that being honest with yourself is at the core of continued success. “In sports, you fail more often than you succeed,” he said. “But you have to be true to yourself – you can’t fool the person in the mirror.”
