Dhaka: Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalil Rehman on Wednesday stressed the need to resolve “some issues” in Bangladesh’s relations with India and noted that the government was reviewing India’s invitation to Prime Minister Tariq Rehman BRICS summit In New Delhi.Speaking to reporters after meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi, he said that the neighboring countries will promote the development of bilateral relations on the basis of sovereign equality and give due consideration to each other’s common interests. “We didn’t discuss any specific issues. There are aggravating issues. He knows that and I know that. It’s very important to resolve them. Everyone understands the need,” Khalil said, an apparent reference to the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the so-called pushback at the border.Earlier, despite Prime Minister Modi’s invitation, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh bypassed India and prioritized a state visit to China. However, the minister said, “We have spoken before about the reset of relations between the two countries, and we have reached a consensus on this issue.”
