New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ajendra Singh’s inflammatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi sparked controversy on Monday with the Bharatiya Janata Party calling on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav to take action against him.“Shameful rant by Samajwadi Party MP Ajendra Singh. This reflects the depraved and sick mentality of the Samajwadi Party leadership. Does Akhilesh Yadav have the courage to act on this curse word?” said BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan. He also shared a video in which Singh can be heard using foul language against the Prime Minister while also labeling him “anti-national”.Singh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice to people, who he urged to “buy less gold, travel less abroad and limit fuel use” amid a fuel crisis caused by tensions in the Middle East. “The words used are highly offensive and to repeat them here is disrespectful to the 1.4 billion people of India and the 230 million people of Uttar Pradesh. At the behest of ring-breaker leader Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party leader resorted to abusive and objectionable language,” said BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia.Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on citizens to make lifestyle and consumption changes to help save foreign currency and mitigate the economic impact of conflicts in West Asia and the global energy crisis. Addressing an event in Secunderabad, he urged people to reduce fuel consumption, use public transport and avoid unnecessary travel abroad, stressing the need for “collective restraint” and “responsibility first” amid rising energy prices and supply chain disruptions.
