Dennis Locorriere dies at 76: What caused the Dr. Hook singer’s death?

Dennis Locorriere, the lead singer of the 1970s band Dr. Hook, died Saturday. kidney disease. He is 76 years old.

“It is with great sadness that we announce Dennis Locorier passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on May 16, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. ” Locorriere’s management said in a statement.

“Dennis faced his illness with extraordinary strength, dignity and resilience throughout and was deeply cherished by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warmth, love and the lasting impact he had on those around him,” they added.

Statement of thanks to all those who have supported Dennis throughout his journey.

It also asks that his loved ones protect their privacy as they mourn this significant loss.

Who is Denis Locorier?

Locorriere was born in Union City, New Jersey, and lived in England for 24 years before his death.

He formed the band with Sawyer, Billy Francis and George Cummings and debuted in 1971 before launching a solo career.

In 2014, the band reached No. 11 in the Top 40 with Timeless, a 40-song collection of chart-topping hits, romantic ballads and lesser-known gems from their sprawling catalogue, more than 40 years after their debut and seven years after their last Top 20 album.

In a career spanning nearly 60 years, Locorriere has produced more than 18 albums. He continued to tour into his 60s.

Additionally, he is a songwriter whose work has been recorded by famous artists such as Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Olivia Newton-John and Helen Reddy.
