Video of Trump talking about Zaruczka showed the murdered woman’s mother, Anna Zaruczka, crying with Erica Kirk at her side. After Trump finished speaking, many attendees stood and applauded, but many others remained seated. While it’s unclear who remained in their seats after Trump spoke, the US president can be seen pointing at attendees and saying: “Why don’t you stand? Why don’t you stand?”
Trump’s remarks were directed at Democrats, who did not appear to join Republicans in standing ovations, the New York Post reported.
TikTok’s Libs shared the video and wrote: “Democrats refused to stand as Trump called for justice for Irina Zarutska, who was needlessly murdered by a career criminal in North Carolina. Why do Democrats love criminals so much?”
Matt Van Swol, a former nuclear scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy, wrote: “Watching Democrats refuse to support Iryna Zarutska’s parents, who were sitting 15 feet away from me… was probably the most radical moment of my life. I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. I can’t accept this.”
Many others are bashing Democrats on X. “Democrats are a disgrace – President Trump honors Irina Zarutska and introduces her grieving mother in tears on House floor. Democrats refuse to stand. Evil,” user wrote.

What did Donald Trump say to Irina Zarutska?
Trump recounted the attack on Zaruczka during his State of the Union address, and her mother broke down. “[Iryna’s killer] He stood up and slashed her neck and body with the knife. No one will ever forget the people on that train. No one will ever forget the look of terror on Irina’s face as she looked up at her attacker in her final seconds. She died at the scene,” Trump said.
Trump added: “She fled a brutal war only to be murdered by a hardcore criminal and released in the United States.”

“Mrs. Zarutska, tonight I promise you that we will ensure justice for your great daughter Irina,” he promised, as attendees applauded.
Erica, the wife of slain Charlie Kirk, appeared to express her condolences to Zaruczka’s mother.
