New Delhi: Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Riaz Hamidullah met Army Chief Chief Upendra Dwivedi in New Delhi to discuss defense ties between the two countries. The meeting focused on ways to enhance bilateral defense cooperation, including joint training initiatives and deeper coordination. The Additional Directorate General of Public Information of the Indian Army said in a post on“ Hamidullah also shared details of the meeting, saying, “It was a pleasure to meet Chief of Army Staff (Indian Army) General Upendra Devidi in South Zone; and reflected on Bangladesh-India relations, including defense cooperation.” The meeting follows a recent speech by Union External Affairs Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, who highlighted the strength of India-Bangladesh relations. Addressing an event held at the High Commission in New Delhi to mark Bangladesh’s Independence Day, he called the partnership strategic, resilient and people-centred. Singh said Bangladesh’s Independence Day “is a testament to the spirit of self-determination and extraordinary resilience of the people of Bangladesh”. He also referred to the shared legacy of the 1971 Liberation War and said these relationships would continue to shape cooperation between the two countries. “These deep bonds of solidarity continue to underpin our bilateral partnership, which is based on trust, shared values and a shared commitment to peace, stability and prosperity in the region,” he said.
