CPM Secretary-General Mabebi has written to the Electoral Commission to express “grave concern” over the mass deletion of voters from Bangladesh’s poll lists. Seh reportedly becomes the third contestant to have his name restored. FIR against TMC’s Nandigram nominee A case has been registered against TMC’s Nandigram nominee Pabitra Kar for alleged assault, intimidation and robbery, the first such case against any candidate since the MCC came into force in Bengal. Buddedb Giri said Khar and three others pressured him to sing “Joy Bangla” and when he refused, they attacked him. He said Rs 3,700 and a watch were taken away. Cong files FIR against Assam candidate The Congress party’s Assam unit filed an FIR against its Udalguri seat candidate Suren Daimary, who resigned from the party on the eve of the assembly polls, accusing the party of “working only for ‘Miyas’ (a derogatory term for Bengali Muslims) but not doing anything for the ST community”.
