New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to Parliament was an “unabashed defense of his host” Benjamin Netanyahu, the Congress said on Thursday, adding that it undermined India’s moral standing. The party published a letter from Jawaharlal Nehru to Albert Einstein in which the first prime minister said Arab rights were crucial to the creation of Israel.Referring to Modi’s statement that India recognized Israel on the day of his birth, Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said that Einstein wrote to Nehru on June 13, 1947, regarding the creation of Israel, and the latter responded on July 11. He pasted Nehru’s letter on the X.Nehru wrote: “I admit that while I sympathize greatly with the Jews, I also sympathize with the Arabs in their plight.”
