'Complaining of pain in left arm': Kerala expatriate collapses after playing badminton in UAE, dies of cardiac arrest
Man from Kerala, UAE dies due to cardiac arrest

According to Gulf News, a 43-year-old Indian expat from Kerala died of cardiac arrest shortly after a routine badminton match in Ajman, days after another Indian expat collapsed and died while playing cricket in Dubai.Anwar Sadiq, a father of two who has lived in the UAE for about 15 years, went to a routine badminton match with his friends on the evening of June 17.

Complaining about left arm pain during competition

During the meeting, Anwar reportedly complained of pain in his left hand and was taken off the field. Family members told Gulf News that his blood pressure appeared normal at the time. After resting for a while and drinking a glass of lemonade, he decided to go home. However, he allegedly collapsed in his car in the parking lot before leaving.

Friends came to help, but he was unable to save himself.

Team members rushed to his aid, calling emergency services and administering first aid while waiting for an ambulance.Despite their best efforts, Anwar could not be revived. According to reports, a death notice stated the cause of death was cardiac arrest and the time of death was recorded as 9:51 p.m.

Community mourns ‘quiet and well-liked’ expat

Friends and neighbors remember Anwar as a soft-spoken and respected member of the community. “He is like an older brother to me. Anyone who meets him immediately likes him,” Gulf News quoted an acquaintance as saying.Friends said the large turnout for his funeral in the UAE and Kerala reflected the fondness for him.

Family heartbroken again

Anwar works as a purchasing manager for a company in Sharjah and lives in Ajman with his wife and two school-going children. The loss was particularly painful for the family because his father also died of a heart attack more than a decade ago while working abroad in Kuwait.Community volunteers helped transport his body back to Kerala, where he was buried on Friday.

Second cardiac arrest death in three days

Anwar’s death comes days after Safwan Shanu, a 38-year-old Indian expatriate from Karnataka, died of a heart attack while playing cricket in Dubai.Safwan had scored 46 runs, including six sixes, before suddenly going down at the non-striker position in a match at Algarhoud on Sunday morning.
