‘CM who spreads hate’: Rahul Gandhi slams Himanta Biswa at Assam poll rally

We have also clearly mentioned in the manifesto that we will provide Rs 450 per day to tea workers,” he said.Highlighting economic and social support measures, Rahul Gandhi said the Congress government would roll out several schemes within a short period of time if voted to power.“Once we form the government in Assam, we will implement the six decisions taken for Assam. Every woman will receive unconditional cash transfer into her bank account every month and those who want to start a business will get Rs 50,000. We assure to punish the accused in the Zubeen Garg case and take action within 100 days.”Targeting the central leadership, Rahul Gandhi also claimed that Assam’s governance was controlled by New Delhi.“Donald Trump controls Narendra Modi, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah control your prime minister. Assam is governed by Delhi. “He stepped up his attacks on Salma, accusing his family of corruption and warning of tough action.“He (CM Himanta Biswa Sarma) also made a mistake by involving his family members in corruption and now even his family members will be accused.”The Congress leader also quoted famous Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, contrasting the party’s ideology with what he described as the divisive politics of the BJP. He said that the party advocates unity and harmony.“Zubin Garg devoted his life to uniting the people of Assam and he never behaved inappropriately towards anyone. This is also the philosophy of the Congress party, love against hate,” he said.He added that legal action would be taken against the chief minister even if he apologized. “Let him speak for a few more days. After that, the Congress will form the government in Assam and legal action will be taken even if he pleads for mercy,” the Congress leader said.The Assam Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 9 and the results will be declared on May 4.
