New Delhi: Maharashtra cabinet minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal had a near-accident on Saturday when the helicopter he was traveling in landed at a parking lot in Pune instead of the designated helipad. Officials said a suitable helipad had been prepared for the VVIP’s arrival, but the pilot reportedly mistook an open space in the parking lot for a landing site. The area was relatively empty at the time, which may have contributed to the chaos. Landing is risky, however, as the helicopter’s spinning rotors can cause damage to nearby vehicles or buildings.Bhujbal later told reporters: “There was no incident; we all came out safely. No need to worry; the helicopter lands in the parking lot simply because there is no helipad in sight. “Security agencies have launched an investigation to determine whether the error was due to a technical issue or human error.Bhujbal was traveling from Nashik to Hanwadi in Purandar tehsil to attend a function commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.
