open feud between Candace Owens and Donald Trump The sentiment intensified this week as Owens launched a sharply personal attack on the president’s criticism, saying it might be “time to put grandpa in the house.”
Owens’ comments came after Trump lashed out at several right-wing commentators, including Owens, in a crude post, calling them “losers” and accusing them of chasing publicity.
Owens countered bluntly that it showed Trump’s behavior was cause for concern. In a brief reply to Trump’s 372-word “Truth Society” post on Thursday, Owens said, “Maybe it’s time to put Grandpa in a home.”
This is not the first time Owens has publicly criticized Trump. She has previously expressed regret for giving him the promotion during the 2024 election cycle and questioned his leadership.
Owens says: ‘I don’t regret voting for Donald Trump up there [former Vice President Kamala Harris]. But I will say that he has been a disappointment and I feel embarrassed asking people to vote for him. “
The exchange marked a shift in the MAGA coalition as Owens becomes one of several prominent conservatives prepared to publicly criticize Trump.
Owens said in another X post on Friday, “Originally going off the air this week, but in light of Trump’s glorious attack (for his own sanity), I will respond at 5pm ET.”

Owens, along with other names that appeared on Trump’s “Truth Society” posts, including Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly and Alex Jones, have publicly supported Trump in the past. They are part of the president’s efforts to court right-wing podcasters and social media influencers during the 2024 campaign.
However, the president said their views now contradict his Make America Great Again initiative.
Trump wrote: “They are not Magathey are losers. As President, I can always have them on my side, but when they call, I don’t call back because I’m too busy with world and national affairs. “
He further faulted Owens for her previous remarks against French First Lady Brigitte Macron, saying she “accused the well-respected First Lady of France of being a man when she is not, and stood to win a lot of money in the ongoing litigation.”
He also crudely commented: “Actually, for me, the First Lady of France is a much more beautiful woman than Candace, not even close!”
