Cabinet approves plan to set up 100 industrial parks at a cost of Rs 336.6 billion

The campuses, ranging in size from 100 to 1,000 acres (25 acres in hilly and northeastern states), will be equipped with ready-made infrastructure including roads, utilities and factory space, allowing companies to quickly move from planning to production.Officials said the program will be implemented through a partnership between the Centre, states and private players, with states expected to take the lead in sponsoring projects. “We expect the state government to be the main sponsor of the park under the scheme… but the private sector can also participate in the development,” a government official said. The center will provide support up to Rs 1 crore per acre for roads, underground utilities, drainage, factory sheds, warehousing, worker housing and supporting facilities, among others.
