Agartala: Two Bangladeshi smuggling suspects arrested BSF Indian soldiers fired at them in self-defence at the India-Bangladesh border at Saipahijala in Tripura on Friday night. The incident took place near the Kamala Sagar border post, an area known for smuggling activities, allegedly with help from villagers on both sides of the border. According to sources, a BSF patrol spotted a group of 10 to 15 people crossing the border fence under cover of darkness to transfer goods to their Indian counterparts. When questioned, the smugglers allegedly began throwing stones at the troops, who opened fire. Two people fell to the ground injured. They were identified as Nabin Hussain (20) and Md Moorsalin (40). They were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. Police said the injured person admitted to being from Bangladesh and admitted to being involved in smuggling activities. Police said their bodies were handed over to the BGB after post-mortem examination.
