A British man has been sentenced to life in prison for infecting several young men and teenage boys with HIV in what a court said was a deliberate and harmful act of abuse.Adam Hall, 43, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 23 years at a Newcastle court. He was found guilty of infecting seven victims, including two boys aged 15 and 17, between 2016 and 2023, the BBC reported. The court heard he met many of his victims online or in pubs and targeted those he considered vulnerable. Prosecutors said he deliberately avoided taking medication that could reduce the risk of HIV transmission and failed to inform his partner of his condition.According to the court, health professionals repeatedly warned Hall about the dangers of his behavior. Despite this, he continued to have unprotected sex and misled his partner about his medical condition.Several victims told the court how the experience changed their lives forever. One said he felt “violated” and is now reminded of what happened every day. Another described how his future was “irrevocably changed” after trusting Hall. The judge said the victims had suffered long-term physical and emotional harm and criticized Hall for not caring about their welfare. He called the offender dangerous and said his actions robbed his victims of their futures.HIV is a lifelong disease that requires ongoing treatment. The court noted that the victim must now deal with the disease for the rest of her life.Police in the area said more people have come forward since the conviction and further inquiries are ongoing. Authorities urged anyone who may have been affected to contact them.Hall denied intentionally infecting his victims, but the court rejected his claim. He will now be sentenced to life in prison and must serve at least two decades before being considered for release.
