‘Bomb making turned into cottage industry’: PM Modi attacks TMC Mamata Banerjee at Birbhum rally
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday came down hard on the Mamta Banerjee-led TMC government, claiming that it had “turned making crude bombs into a cottage industry”.Addressing an election rally in Birbhum, West Bengal, the Prime Minister said the TMC had normalized violence in the state and promised strict action if the BJP came to power. “Today, I make a promise to the people of Bengal. Once the Bengal BJP government is formed, there will be a special probe against those who facilitated infiltration. This is my assurance to you. No matter how powerful they are, they will be identified and sent to jail,” he said. The Prime Minister also took a jibe at the TMC’s slogan, saying “TMC’s ‘Maa-Mati-Manush’ is nothing but an empty phrase,” he said. “Maa is crying, Marty has been overtaken by infiltrators and Manush is scared,” the prime minister said.Talking about Rabindranath Tagore, he added, “Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore envisioned a society where everyone was free from fear. However, TMC’s ‘Maha Jungle Raj’ did the exact opposite.”Referring to the 2022 Birbhum violence, also known as the Bogtui massacre, he said: “What happened in Bogtui was not just an incident, it was a stain on humanity. Innocent women and children were burned alive. If this is not jungle rule, what is it?”The Prime Minister also accused the TMC of disrespecting the tribal community. “What is the mentality of the TMC that it can even insult the country’s first tribal woman president? How arrogant is this?” he asked.Modi appealed to young voters, saying, “The youth power of Bengal is deciding the farewell of this cruel government. On April 23 and April 29, they will give the answer.”The Prime Minister had earlier addressed a rally in Asansol. Polling in West Bengal’s 294 assembly constituencies will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting scheduled for May 4.
