The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department has released an update on the current emergency situation. Some reports, citing local scanner audio, said three people trapped in the collapse had been rescued. However, official confirmation on the matter is still yet to be confirmed.
The department stated: “Emergency crews are on scene at Peking Wholesale Club Ocean Twp dealing with a roof collapse. Please stay away from the area. Allow first responders to respond.”
Additionally, the department is asking residents and drivers to avoid State Highway 35 in Ocean Township due to severe flooding.
