Kolkata: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee On Saturday, she called off a rally in Bhowanipore, claiming that microphones set up for a BJP rally 400m away were placed directly at her TMC event to “drown out her voice”.“How can such a meeting be held? I have obtained permission. Still, you see their attitude. Whatever they forcefully occupy Bengal is wrong,” she said.
Tensions grew in the area as hundreds of TMC workers gathered at the Bhowanipur police station in protest when a visibly angry chief minister left the dais and said she would move court against the EC’s attempt to block her meeting. Central troops rushed to the scene immediately.The chief minister promised to return to the field on Sunday, urging people to bring the TMC back to power with a two-third majority.
