Mumbai: There will be no change in Assam’s IPL-2026 schedule, with Guwahati expected to host three matches involving Rajasthan Royals, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed to TOI after the Election Commission of India on Sunday announced that Assam will hold elections in a phased manner on April 9. According to the first 20 matches schedule of IPL-2026 released by BCCI, Guwahati is scheduled to host two IPL matches during the state election period, with RR facing Mumbai Indians on April 7 and then Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 10. Guwahati will also host the opener against Rajasthan Royals chennai super kings March 30th. “The IPL matches in Guwahati, Assam will not be rescheduled. I have spoken to the honorable Assam Chief Minister (Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma) and Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathy Mahanta. Both have assured me that they will try to (hold the matches) and there is no need to change (the schedule),” Saikia told this newspaper. On Sunday, the ECI released the election schedule for the five voting states. Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will vote on April 9, Tamil Nadu on April 23, while West Bengal elections will be held in two phases – April 23 and 29. “In due course, we will announce the schedule for the remaining IPL matches. After preliminary discussions with the relevant associations (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and Bengal Cricket Association), we will announce the schedule for the remaining IPL matches.” However, we cannot give you a timetable. Hence, the IPL was conducted smoothly and seamlessly,” Saikia said.
