Aviana’s sister said in an article to fund me Posted after her death, “My sister was a loving person. She was great with kids, no matter their age, they all happened to love her, she loved to dance, do her hair, sing, etc. My sister was extremely talented and a very good athlete, she was very smart, Aviana was full of life and loved spending time with family, friends, boyfriends, etc. She was 18, had just graduated and was waiting to walk on stage! I could go on and on about her, but I know she was loved by so many!”

The sister confirmed Avianna died on May 5. As of this writing, $670 of the $11,000 goal has been raised.

Aviana was shot in the head and was in critical condition, and her family spoke to KOCO 5 shortly before her death was announced.

“Our child is 18 years old. She turns 18 in December. She’s still in high school. You know, she just finished her high school homework and is getting ready to finish three months at the school that she’s in and she’s like looking forward to graduation,” ShaRhonda Smith, the 18-year-old’s aunt, told KOCO. “They stole her life. It’s not fair. They had no right to do the same to her or anyone else who was innocently injured.”

The shooting was sparked by a fight at a weekend party packed with young people at an Oklahoma campground. Police said as many as 23 people suffered gunshot and shrapnel wounds, NBC News reported.

No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Some of the victims were unrelated to the fight that led to the shooting, according to police.

“These bullets struck multiple people, including people who were not involved in that altercation and were just participating in the event,” said Sgt. James Hamm of the Edmond Police Department, KOCO 5 reported.

Hamm also explained why no information about the suspect has been released.

“For the integrity of the investigation, we are not releasing any information about a suspect. Typically, when we release suspect information, it’s for two reasons. One, is there information that is relevant to public safety or if we need public assistance, and those circumstances are not applicable to this case at this time,” Hamm said.
