Ashley’s trip to Tanzania was to celebrate her 31st birthday and her recent engagement to Joe, whom she shared several photos with on Instagram.
A post Ashlee shared on April 4 showed her and Joe walking the lioness, with Joe getting down on one knee and proposing to her with a ring. Ashley said yes and the two kissed and hugged.
The post was titled: “Still somewhere in Africa…”.
After she posted the video, Instagram users took to the comments section to congratulate the couple. “Officially my new favorite couple. Congratulations bro,” one user wrote. “That’s a rock!!! on that finger,” said another.
One user wrote: “Ahahahahaha congratulations!!! So happy for you,” while another wrote, “Let’s f**** it up.”
Aslee’s close friend and PR executive Savannah Britt shared on X that the influencer had Got engaged on her birthday. Savannah also dismissed the suicide claims, saying her friend “would never take his own life.”

“We need justice for my friend Ashlee Jenae, who was found dead in a hotel in Tanzania and her fiancé Joe McCann claims she hanged herself. Anyone who knew Ashlee Jenae knows she would never take her own life. We need answers now!” she said write on X.
Ashley was found dead at the Serval Wildlife Resort in Tanzania, and Joe said Tanzanian authorities later determined she had hanged herself and labeled it a suicide.
