Anti-corruption agency meets to develop group strategic roadmap

New Delhi: The three-day meeting of the 12th steering committee of anti-corruption law enforcement agency Global Operations Network (GlobE Network), which has members of investigative agencies from 135 countries, kicked off in the national capital on Monday. It will review the network’s strategic direction, operational priorities and evolving international cooperation framework.The meeting was chaired by the Directors of CBI and ED and attended by members of the 15-country Steering Committee of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime GlobE Secretariat. The Global Platform is a dedicated anti-corruption enforcement body established under a Riyadh initiative during Saudi Arabia’s G20 Presidency.In his welcome address, ED Director Rahul Navin said that the ED has returned assets worth about $5.6 billion, including corruption cases, a large part of which has been achieved in the past few years. The GlobE network complements formal legal aid mechanisms by enabling faster, more flexible and direct inter-agency engagement. The 15 countries currently serving on the GlobE Steering Committee are India, Brazil, China, Russia, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Grenada, Nigeria and Romania.
