What did he say on camera?

The case relates to hidden camera videos released by James O’Keefe through his media group. The video, which is said to be about 14 minutes long, shows Hager openly talking to someone at a restaurant but unaware he was being recorded.

The conversation included claims about sensitive topics, according to reports and social media summaries related to O’Keefe’s group that have not been independently verified by U.S. authorities. They include statements about the U.S. possessing nerve agents, a U.S. Army chemist who allegedly died from exposure, and comments related to military operations and Iran.

O’Keefe said Hager “was caught on hidden camera casually disclosing sensitive information to strangers in a public restaurant.”

One moment in the video drew particular attention. I heard Hager ask:

“You’re not a spy, are you?”

Then he said: “Your eyes fascinate me. The easiest way to get information is to send a beautiful girl… I must resist your eyes.”

In short, he seemed to describe the exact method used on him when it happened.

Who is Andrew Hager?

Andrew Hager does not hold a top command position in the nuclear system. Public-facing professional resume based on citations Geek’s Fortunewhose focus is policy, security and compliance. He works on projects to ensure that people handling sensitive material can be trusted. He also addresses issues related to insider threats, particularly in the secure movement of radioactive materials.

His LinkedIn profile showed he had held the position since at least August 2024, but was deleted after the story broke. He was also previously listed as a senior technical staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a key center for nuclear weapons and nonproliferation research.

There is an obvious irony to the situation. Hager’s job is to identify insider threats and people within the system who may be risks. Now, he himself is under investigation under similar circumstances. Some early reports referred to him as the “top nuclear chief,” but his actual role was at the branch level rather than within overall nuclear command, which could be important in determining any legal outcome.

What happens next?

The Army has not said which, if any, of his comments may have violated rules related to classified nuclear or chemical information. This will determine whether the case will result in administrative proceedings or more serious military legal consequences.

The investigation is expected to proceed at its own pace. So far, officials have not revealed which agency is leading the effort, what evidence is being used or how long it might take. As a result, most public discussion is largely based on a single video source.
