She testified before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday that the packages were often mailed in the name of the 20-year-old son of District Judge Esther Salas, who was brutally murdered in his home in 2020 after opening the door to an attacker.
“I think the message these are sending in his name is clear,” she said.

The couple lives in South Bend, Indiana, where they raised their seven children. Barrett’s two children were adopted from Haiti, and their youngest biological child has Down syndrome, the South Bend Tribune reported.
