NEW DELHI: Following the NTA’s decision to cancel the NEET-UG entrance exam, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the Center, saying the hard work of students was being “crushed by the corrupt BJP regime”.In a post on X, Rahul hit the center and said “Amrit Kaal has become Vish Kaal.”“NEET exam 2026 has been cancelled. The hard work, sacrifices and dreams of over 22 lakh students have been crushed by this corrupt BJP regime. Some fathers took loans, some mothers sold jewellery, thousands of children studied all night,” Rahul said.“In return, they got leaked documents, government failure and organized corruption in education,” he added.this congress Leaders also called the incident a “crime against the future of young people”.“This is not just a failure, it is a crime against the future of young people. Each time, the newspaper mafia gets away with it while honest students are punished. Now thousands of students will be subjected to the same mental stress, financial burden and uncertainty again,” he said.“If one’s destiny is not determined by hard work but by money and connections, then what is the point of education? The Prime Minister’s so-called Amrit Khar has turned into the Vish Khar of the country,” he added.This is after National testing agency The NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3 has been canceled and it has been announced that the medical entrance exam will be re-conducted and the new date will be notified later. The exam sparked national controversy following allegations of a massive leak of “guessing papers”.The Indian government also ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to launch a comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities in the exam, in which nearly 2.279 million students in India and abroad took the exam.A few days ago, investigators found evidence that a question set, dubbed by officials as a “question paper”, was circulated among candidates in the weeks leading up to the exam, allegedly containing a large number of questions that closely matched the actual NEET paper.“Based on the observations of the NTA’s subsequent review in coordination with central agencies and the findings shared by law enforcement agencies, the national testing agency with the approval of the Government of India has decided to cancel the NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026 and re-conduct the examination on a date to be notified,” the agency posted on X.“The comments received by the State Board of Revenue, coupled with the findings shared by law enforcement agencies, determine that the current examination process cannot continue. The date for the re-conduction of the examination and the schedule for the re-issuance of the admission ticket will be communicated through the agency’s official channels in the coming days,” it added.
