Carvalho wrote in his resignation letter to the Los Angeles Unified School District that he did not want to be a “distraction” to students. “Putting students first has always been a guiding principle in my work,” he said.

Agents seized cellphones, computers and paper documents.
Meanwhile, school board members and staff were asked to leave the Los Angeles Unified School District headquarters while agents searched the location.
Carvalho has not been charged with any crime. The Los Angeles Unified School District said it is cooperating with investigators.
“Mr. Carvalho respects the rule of law and the investigative process and always acts within the bounds of the law in the best interests of students,” a spokesperson said, according to the New York Post. “While the government’s investigation remains ongoing, prosecutors have provided no evidence to support allegations that Mr. Carvalho violated federal law.”
