New Delhi: In an unusual development, TMC MPs have sought a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu to apprise her of the welfare initiatives taken by the Bengal government. However, according to sources, the Rashtrapati Bhavan rejected their request citing “insufficient time”.Prior to this, Murmu triggered a political row during his visit to Bangladesh on March 7 after he was accused of violating etiquette.A senior member of the TMC had written to the President on March 9, stating that the AITC delegation consisting of LS and RS members and West Bengal ministers wanted to meet her to share the various initiatives taken by the state government for inclusive development of all sections of society. However, a letter was sent from the Rashtrapati Bhavan informing that the TMC had considered its request but could not accept it. The TMC has once again written to the President’s office asking for time next week.
