After the attack on US troops in Jordan, the United States launched a new round of air strikes on Iran

The United States has launched a new wave of air strikes against Iran, which the military said was aimed at weakening Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and in retaliation for an attack on U.S. troops in Jordan that killed two U.S. service members.U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on Donald Trump.U.S. Central Command said: “At 6 p.m. Eastern Time today, the U.S. military, under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief, began launching new air strikes against Iran. These air strikes are designed to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and quickly punish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps troops who launched an attack on U.S. military personnel in Jordan last night.”The latest action marks another escalation in the conflict between the United States and Iran. According to Central Command, the attack targeted Iranian military capabilities related to threats to maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington accuses of carrying out attacks on U.S. personnel in Jordan. The U.S. action follows Friday’s Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on Jordan’s Mouwafak Sarti air base, where U.S. and partner forces are defending against an attack. Central Command said two U.S. service members were killed in the operation, one is still missing, and four others were taken to hospitals in Jordan for treatment and have since been released. Others who were treated for minor injuries have returned to work. The military said it would not reveal the identity of the deceased until his family was notified. The latest attack brings the death toll of U.S. troops in the conflict in Iran to 16, according to U.S. officials. The U.S. military has not yet revealed where the latest wave of attacks has been targeted, nor has it released a preliminary battle damage assessment. Iran had no immediate comment on the operation.
