A Pakistani man has pleaded guilty in the United States to leading an international human smuggling organization.
A Sialkot man has pleaded guilty in a U.S. court to leading an international human smuggling conspiracy involving fake companies, fake visas and a “Dunki” route through Ecuador, Cuba, Colombia and then through the southern border into the United States. Abbas Ali Haider, 49, was extradited to the United States from Mexico in July 2025 to face charges. After pleading guilty, he will be sentenced on July 30. Haider faces a minimum sentence of three years in prison and a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.$40,000 to bring illegal Pakistanis to U.S.According to court documents, Haider ran two fake film production companies – Diamond Television World Productions and Multimedia Advertising Ltd. Both fake companies were shown to be based in Pakistan, but he used them to illegally bring Pakistani nationals into the United States. The men went to film a movie posing as employees of Haider Film Company. They enter Latin American countries on fake visas, but their final destination is through the Mexican border to the United States.“From approximately September 2019 to September 2023, Haider fraudulently obtained visas for Pakistani nationals traveling to Ecuador, Cuba, and Colombia under the guise of legitimate business travel, while their true destination was always the southern border of the United States. These Pakistani nationals were granted entry into Latin American and Caribbean countries by posing as employees of Haider’s fake company and traveling to film a film. Haider’s network then directed them to the U.S.-Mexico border, where they illegally crossed into California, Texas and Arizona. For this purpose, Haider charged each person up to $40,000,” the Justice Department said.Sending illegal aliens living in Pakistan to the United StatesHaider used his fake film company to secure contracts with film companies in Ecuador, Cuba and Colombia. He then asked the companies to provide visas to Pakistani nationals who claimed to work for Haider’s company, under the pretext that they were working on joint film projects in Latin America. Haider provided false documents to Pakistani nationals indicating they worked for his company and used the documents at ports of entry in Panama, Brazil and Colombia. Haider directed the aliens that they were working in the film industry to deceive and thwart customs and border officials. Haider’s smuggling network then facilitated Pakistani nationals traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border, where they illegally crossed into California, Texas and Arizona.Haider traveled to Mexico from Pakistan in late 2024 and was arrested in Mexico in January 2025 at the request of the U.S. government.
