阿萨姆邦投票前一天,国会议员乌达尔古里候选人表示退出政党a senior election committee When contacted, officials said Daimari’s name will remain in the EVM and people can still vote for him as the deadline for withdrawing nominations has long passed.Congress spokesperson Bedabrata Bora told Press Trust of India (PTI) that Daimari had announced his decision in front of the media but was yet to submit his resignation letter to the party.Earlier in the day, Demari told reporters that he had resigned from Congress and “given up” his candidacy. “There is no benefit in joining Congress. It betrays me,” he said.“Congress only works for Miyas but they do nothing for Scheduled Tribes like me,” Daimari claimed. He alleged that the Congress party did not extend campaign support after nominating him for the Udaguri seat.“I called the party leadership many times but they didn’t pick up my call at all. I’m sad because they didn’t help me at all. The district congress committee didn’t help me either,” Daimari said.He added that after waiting for a long time without receiving a reply, we decided to quit the party. When asked why he resigned the day before the vote, Daimari said: “I did not betray the party, the party betrayed me.” Reacting to Daimari’s announcement, senior poll panel officials clarified that the deadline for withdrawal of nominations has long passed and the names of the candidates have been loaded into the EVMs.“In fact, the polling parties have already gone to the polling stations. Therefore, there is no question of withdrawing names from the contest now,” he added. The 126-member Assam Assembly will go to polls on April 9 and the results will be declared on May 4. Four candidates will contest for the Udalguri assembly seat.Apart from Daimari, BJP allies Rihon Daimari of BPF, Dipen Boro of UPPL and Unike Basumatary of Electoral Party International are also running for the seat.
